The brain is an important part of our body. Like other parts the brain also get affected with age. But there are ways we can stop or at least minimize the effect of aging. Nowadays we hear a couple of diseases related to the brain like Alzheimer, dementia etc. It is an alarming situation as more senior people are getting died because of these diseases compared to other deadly diseases like cancer, heart diseases etc.

Now a day’s memory loss is not just limited to senior person but young persons are also facing this issue. This situation is not under control as the government is also investing a lot of money in finding out solutions and persons are also shell out a lot of money to get treated for these diseases.
But there are couples of ways which we can incorporate in our lifestyle to stay away from brain-related problems.

  • Food Habit – From an early age, our parents focus on healthy food. They always advise us not to eat junk food. This holds true to keep our healthy brain. When we put our food next time, make sure it contains all the colorful plant foods. These colorful foods are super foods loaded with phytonutrients and antioxidants which are good for a healthy brain. Some colorful options are blueberry, radish, tomatoes, dark leafy green vegetables like kale, spinach, Swiss chard. Fat is also good for the brain. But before that, you have to make sure which fat is good for the brain. About 60% of the brain contains fat. So add good fat in your diet from fish, seafood, almonds, walnuts, olive oil, and coconut butter. Your plate should contain a good amount of protein also. At least 30% in your plate is made up of protein. So in every meal eat some protein.
    Foods that are high in sugar, trans fat and preservatives should be avoided.
  • Physical exercise – Physical exercise does not mean that you start playing some game or go for a long run or join the gym. The main concept behind this starts doing any activity which makes you physically active and moves your whole body. The simple start would be to add a walk in your daily routine. Slowly you can add up some more activity in your physical routine. With time you can call your friend or on holidays you can indulge in some full day fun activity. The point here is that movement is very crucial for a healthy brain as it improves proper blood flow, good metabolism increases insulin sensitivity. The main point taken here is doing any physical activity but do it daily. Even you can try these indoor exercises at home if you don’t want to go outside.
  • Proper rest – our new age of life is full of stress these days. And stress impacts our brain hormones and is the main reason for memory loss and dementia. So allow enough time for our brain to get rest. Seven to eight hours of sound sleep is a must in the day to keep our brain healthy. When you do some physical activity include some time for mediation. It improves your concentration in work and it will not deviate from outside noise. Do everything that gives rest and relaxes to your brain.
